U.S. women’s roster finalized for 2007 World Championships and DeVeau's own Samantha Peszek is One of Them...

STUTTGART, Germany, Sept. 1, 2007—USA Gymnastics today announced the six women who will compete in the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Sept. 1-9, in Stuttgart, Germany.

The six women are: Ivana Hong of Blue Springs, Mo./GAGE; Shawn Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa/Chow’s Gymnastics; Nastia Liukin of Parker, Texas/WOGA; Samantha Peszek of Indianapolis, Ind./DeVeau’s Gymnastics; Alicia Sacramone of Winchester, Mass./Brestyan’s; and Shayla Worley of Orlando, Fla./Orlando Metro. Bridget Sloan of Pittsboro, Ind./Sharp’s Gymnastics Academy, is the reserve athlete.

The 2007 World Championships is the qualifying event for the 2008 Olympic Games. The top 12 teams advance to compete in Beijing.

Summer, 2007 - 25 years ago DeVeau's School of Gymnastics opened it's doors on the eastside of Indianapolis.  The program started with only 150 students.  Thanks to a solid structure of classes and a wonderful staff of qualified instructors, the program has grown to over 2000 students!  CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR COMPETITIVE TEAMS!!!  DeVeau's Boy's & Girl's Teams ALL brought home the 1st place team title from their respective levels at their State Championships!!!  To celebrate, there was a TEAM CELEBRATION on July 22nd at Forest Park in Noblesville from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M.  There was a DJ and many fun and exciting games and activities are being planned.  To read the story that the Star Press ran on May 2nd (since it won't always be accessible on their site, it is a copy of THEIR story... all credit is theirs)  CLICK HERE.  


 

Region 5 Level 8 Women's Championships


DeVeau's "Gym Star" Achievement Program...DeVeau's is proud to announce a new achievement program for all "Gym Star" students.  Every student in the recreational program will be presented with an achievement ribbon after the completion of each 8 week session for their hard work, dedication and commitment.  After completing 6 consecutive sessions, students will be presented with a trophy.  DeVeau's is very excited about the new program.  We look forward to rewarding our dedicated students for their efforts.


DeVeau's Samantha Peszek wins 5 medals at the USA vs Great Britain!!! 

LISBURN, N. Ireland, March 18, 2007 — The U.S. women dominated the individual event finals at the USA vs. Great Britain competition held today in Lisburn, N. Ireland, winning all four gold medals and claiming 11 of 12 available medals.  Samantha Peszek of McCordsville, Ind., won the vault and floor exercise, with Shayla Worley of Orlando claiming the uneven bars crown and Shawn Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa, earning top honors on the balance beam.  Including the all-around and team events, which were held yesterday, the USA earned a total of 15 medals.

Reggie Staton (Jessica), Level 10, has accepted a full scholarship to compete gymnastics for the Ohio State University team next year!

She will formally sign on November 9th at DeVeau's. Please help us congratulate Reggie by placing a note in her gym mailbox.

Patrick Schenkel (going to Texas A & M), Ashley Jacobs (going to Ball State on a gymnastics scholarship), Joan DeVeau (owner), Taryn DeVeau (going to University of Kentucky - made their cheerleading squad), Kyle Wetzel (going to Indiana University).

DeVeau's Men's Team Members Qualify for Nationals...Almost all of the Men's Level 10 team qualified to go the Men's JO Nationals Championships in May.  Congratulations guys!

Samantha Peszek of DeVeau's School of Gymnastics won her second international all-around title at the Gymnix International in Montreal, Quebec, March 18-19. Sam and her coach, Peter Zhao, are shown here. Sam not only won the all-around but also took first on vault, beam and third on bars. The competition included gymnasts from Belgium, Canada, Japan, Russia and the United States.

DeVeau's School of Gymnastics would like to thank everyone who came to TUMBLE AID 2005 on Saturday, September 17th!  We raised $1,826 for the Region 8 Hurricane Relief Fund.  All donations will be sent to Region 8 to help those members of the gymnastics community that were either destroyed or severely damaged as a result of Hurricane Katrina.  If you were not able to participate in Tumble Aid 2005 and would still like to contribute, we will be accepting donations throughout the week.
